What are rubber granules used for? Let’s start at the beginning. Rubber granules are the perfect alternative to sand and gravel. Both sand and gravel can be messy and dusty, which is not the case with rubber granules. That’s why rubber granules are the ideal material for filling your sandbag in a clean and sustainable way. Did you know they also help your sandbag keep its shape? Pretty convenient. At GorillaGrip, we offer three different sandbags for training: the Husafell sandbag, the Strongman sandbag, and the Throwbag sandbag. All of these sandbags are suitable for functional training, strongman workouts, or exercising in your (back)yard. Depending on your fitness level, you can choose the right sandbag size. Fill it with rubber granules, and you’re ready to go. GorillaGrip’s rubber granules are sold in 20kg bags, so it’s important to know how much you need for your sandbag. Not sure? Don’t worry—GorillaGrip is happy to help. What are rubber granules? Rubber crumb are made from recycled materials. Specifically, they come from recycled tires that have been granulated and cleaned. Because their density is different from, for example, sand, a sandbag filled with rubber granules will weigh less than one filled with sand. Even though rubber granules are dust-free and contain no sharp pieces, this is something to keep in mind. What is the difference between sand and rubber crumb? You can fill a sandbag with sand. That’s about all there is to say—sand is dusty, leaks easily from the bag, and can be abrasive when it comes into contact with your sweaty body. In short: a real no-go. Rubber granules, on the other hand, are a whole different story. They’re the stronger, cleaner, and more sustainable version of sand. A big plus if you ask us. At GorillaGrip, your performance and training experience come first. That’s why we only sell rubber granules in 20kg bags—no sand or gravel, which you can get at any hardware store. And that’s where it belongs—not in your sandbag. FAQ How long do rubber granules last?Did you know that rubber granules can last for years? Often five to ten years, sometimes even longer. That’s sustainability for you. If the sandbag is used daily on rough outdoor terrain, the lifespan of the granules may decrease slightly. It’s also important that the sandbag is properly sealed. Are rubber granules safe?Yes, GorillaGrip’s rubber granules are safe. Of course, they must be used correctly and are not intended for play—especially by children. The material is recycled rubber and non-toxic. Since it’s dust-free, there’s no risk of accidental inhalation. What are the applications of rubber granules?Rubber granules have many uses. They’re the perfect filler for all types of sandbags, which you can easily buy at GorillaGrip, but they’re also used elsewhere. For example, rubber granules are found in tiles used in playgrounds and gyms. The material’s cushioning effect reduces the impact of falls. Unsurprisingly, GorillaGrip also sells rubber granule tiles. Made from the same durable material as our granules, they last a long time. Curious? Check out our rubber granule tiles here. Why choose rubber granules as filling material?Rubber granules are solid without being sharp—a problem with gravel. They’re also sustainable, both in production and in use. Made from recycled material, they last for years. The granules don’t create dust like sand does, and they don’t absorb water, so they won’t mold or smell.
